THE KITE RUNNER- Khaled Hosseini
The story begins with the birth of two Afghan boys, Amir and Hassan. Their mothers died while giving birth to them. Amir belonged to a rich family where his father is a well known businessman and an industrialist of Afghanistan. Where as, Hassan was born in the family of the servants of Amir and his father.
During their childhood, they both grew up as brothers. Ali, Hassan's father was a loyal servant of Amir's Baba. They both had been together since very long. Ali used to live in an out house kind of a hut which was located in the garden of Amir's house.
If you're anywhere from Aisa, or to be more precise from India, you can easily relate to the geography of Afghanistan and its culture. It is very similar. The kind of happiness after looting a kite is unimaginable. All Indians could relate to it.
The relations between Amir and his father was sweet and salty. Amir had always craved for his father's attention where as his father had a soft corner for Hassan. And that was the sole reason why Amir hated Hassan a bit.
There used to be a kite competition among the locals of the Afghanistan and one fine year Amir's father asked Amir to take part in it and win the competition. Amir found this great opportunity to prove his worth to his father.
After a lot of struggle, his kite actually fought till the last one and he won the competition. But, a very merciless incident took place on that fine evening which completely changed the relation between Hassan and Amir. The incident filled Amir with guilt, sorrow and depression. He knew that he can never forgive himself.
Many years later, all the wars broke down and Afghanistan was not left as the same peaceful land as it used to be. Amir and his father had shifted to America. But, there were still many reasons why Afghanistan brought Amir back to its land.
There was still a lot of things left unsolved and needed a solution.
